The Flint Hills Optimist Club annual Christmas Tree lot will open on Friday, November 27th at 10:00am. Located again Guion’s Furniture parking lot at 2023 West 6th in Emporia. The lot will be several varieties of fresh cut trees to choose from plus, wreaths, garland by the foot, tree disposal bags and "tree life" additive for water. Open Monday thru Friday 5:30 to 8pm. 26th Annual Chanute Christmas Parade of Lights will be held Thursday, Dec 3rd beginning at 6:30pm on Main Street. This years theme is "The Magic Of Christmas". Entry forms are available online or by calling 431-0056 or emailing director@chanutemainstreet.com. $50 first place prize in each of the three categories.

The Iola Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Covid-19 Safe  Winter Wonderland Snow Globe on the downtown Iola Square! Santa will be safely meeting and talking with kids inside the Snow Globe Barrier. Kids can get pictures next to the Snow Globe and get drop off their letters to Santa in his personal North Pole Mailbox. Masks will be required. Fredonia Chamber is hosting a Christmas Cruise Night, Sat. Dec 5th starting at 6:30 pm. Prizes will be awarded for best decorated cars, trucks and floats. Line up at 6:00pm on the south side of the G&W parking lot to enter the contest. (Cruise participants must ride inside their vehicles. The Salvation Army of Lyon County in Emporia will be holding a Winter Clothes Giveaway on Tuesday, Dec 8th from 9a-4:30p.  They will be handing out winter coats, gloves, hats, scarfs and more. The Indoor Holiday Farmers Market is Thursday, Dec. 10th at the North Lyon County Youth Association Building from 4:30p - 6:30pm.   (The old school building, across the street from the Ball Park in Allen).
